Yaoi For Dummies

So in the couple weeks since I started this blog I've gotten hundreds of emails saying "PLEASE Professor Purvurt, please tell us more about YAOI!" Well ok, maybe it wasn't actually hundereds of emails...maybe it was um...2 emails. Same thing.
Anyway I'm here to serve. I could just do the easy thing and send you all to a website that tells all about yaoi, but that would be the lazy way to do it.
So uh, thats what Im going to do of course hehe.

Oh good you're back. Now in case you were'nt paying attention, there are a few things I want to add about yaoi. I'm not some purist about it, I'm not one of those people who believes that if it isn't Japanese it can't be yaoi (tho the best stuff IS Japanese). BUT you should know that yaoi is NOT just "gay cartoons". It is NOT dumb hentai stuff which is just sex cartoons. Yaoi is about stories and emotions. And uh, sex hehe. Some of it is just kind of romantic, kissing and hugging stuff, and some of it is reeeaaly hard core. (Theres a little of each on my sidebar if you'll notice. *waits while you notice*) But yaoi is ALWAYS about stories, not just sex, and thats why I like it.
I have to warn you about something. If you say you like yaoi, some ppl will immediately think you must be a 13 year old girl. Im serious! For some reason, other than gay guys, yaoi is REALLY popular with teenage girls! (I learned about yaoi from my friend Tasha lol). Scientists have studied this for decades trying to understand why girls like yaoi, but now I--Professor Kyle D. Purvurt, will give you the answer.
The answer is-- nobody knows. Teenage girls are just strange.
Here's some sites you can check out for yaoi. Be careful on the Chan sites tho if you decide to post any yaoi of your own because some of those guys really are purists and they will fail you fast if you put shota or guro or loli or hentai on the yaoi board. "YOU FAIL!!" hehe.
Or just google the word yaoi and start following links.
Ok thats it for now. My next lesson will be on nuclear physics or how to properly eat an oreo.

And the stuff on your page is really really hot so I will have to do some digging. One thing I am confused about is all the time with japanese cartoons I see they "blur out" the cartoon over the cock sometimes. Why is this? Does it really make the art that much more acceptable :-) It still seems hardcore to me!

Thanks you guys, Steve I really dont know why they do that blurring thing, I mean its not like you cant figure out whats going on lol.
Ive tried a few times to photoshop pics to get rid of the blur...sometimes that works.
reading your thoughts about yaoi goes along with your post of 24th dec. i hadn't really thought about the emotion side of the yaoi til you described it.
but yeah, i'm with you on that - porn is a *whole* lot more erotic if it looks like they're actually having a good time and enjoying each other.

Just found your blog. I usually don't comment, but also the blogs don't usually mention yaoi. =)
I think I understand why girls like yaoi, and part of the reason is one of the reasons that you like it: because of the emotions and the story. Also, the fact that in yaoi those emotions are between two males makes it better for them because they don't usually see the same situations in real life. Plus, regular hentai often is geared toward straight males, and therefore tends to be less about the stories.
I think it's kind of funny that the majority of the yaoi fan base is girls. I went to an anime convention for the first time last fall, and while I was there I bought a yaoi dojinshi. One of the people with whom I went to the convention commented on my purchase, saying that she had never met a guy who likes yaoi.

Girls probably like Yaoi because it shows men who are INVOLVED with each other, sensually and emotionally. They have to put up with straight men who are more concerned with their own dicks than with engaging with a woman.
